PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately decide the image attribute of a block under consideration which consists of the block of adjacent (n) pixels×(m) pixels (n>=1 and m>=1), based on edge information or the like in an image attribute discrimination method for discriminating the attribute of image data. SOLUTION: In this image attribute discrimination method for dividing the image data into the blocks with consist of the adjacent plural pixels and discriminating the attribute of images by a block unit, binarization is performed on the pixel data of the block under consideration and the number of obtained binary data is counted. Then, the inversion number of a value is counted for the binary data, and the attribute of the image is discriminated based on the number of the binary data and the inversion number.
