<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely detect the presence or absence and the position of a crew in a configuration for detecting the crew in a vehicle. SOLUTION: An infrared area sensor 3 detects the temperature distribution of a specific region in a vehicle room whose image is formed by a lens 4. A signal detection/processing circuit 8 creates thermal image data, based on the temperature distribution that is detected by the infrared area sensor 3. Then each kind of system control circuit 12 detects the position and skin temperature of a human body, based on the thermal image data that are created by the signal detection/processing circuit 8, thus appropriately operating an air bag system, an air-conditioning system, a security system, and the like. In this case, each kind of system control circuit 12 judges a crew with the environment outside the vehicle as a background due to the opening of a door, thus securing judging the crew even if the background temperature inside the vehicle room is close to the crew temperature.</p> |
