PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet laser device and a method for manufacturing the same with which laser light of a short wavelength of 300 nm or less can be obtained. SOLUTION: An electrode 2 for hole injection is formed on a substrate 1. An undoped diamond layer 3 and a boron-doped diamond layer 4 are sequentially stacked on the electrode 2. An undoped diamond layer 5 and an electrode 6 for electron injection are stacked sequentially on the boron-doped diamond layer 4. Also, the electrode 2 and the electrode 6 are connected to a power 7 in such a way that a positive voltage is applied to the electrode 2 for hole injection, and a negative voltage is applied to the electrode 6 for electron injection. Accordingly, since diamond layers 3 and 5 exhibiting a higher resistance than a light-emitting layer of boron-doped diamond are formed between the light-emitting layer and the electrode 2 and the electrode 6 respectively, impurities and defective crystals in the light emitting layer can be reduced. |
