PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the display quality of a plasma display panel(PDP) by reducing the surface roughness of a dielectric layer on the front panel of AC surface discharge type PDP and improving its discharge characteristics depending on the surface roughness of the dielectric layer. SOLUTION: A front panel 50 is provided with transparent electrodes 11 formed in a band-like form on the surface of a front glass board 6 on the discharge space 18 side, metal electrodes 12 which are formed on a part on the discharge space 18 side surface of each of the transparent electrodes 11 in parallel with the electrodes 11 and have a thickness within around 7 μm, and a dielectric layer 8 to cover the transparent electrodes 11 and the metal electrodes 12. Each of the metal electrodes 12 is composed of a Cr thin film electrode 13 formed on the surface of the electrode 11 and an Ag thick film electrode 14 formed on the surface of the Cr thin film electrode 13. Because the metal electrodes 12 are formed in the aforementioned thickness, the dielectric layer 8 is so formed as to have a surface roughness within about 2 μm. |
