PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the postage meter system and method using a personal computer. SOLUTION: A post security device(PSD) 40 is provided with a peculiar identifier, a postage storage device, and a digital signature generator. One client printer module remote from the PSD 40 requests a postage payment certificate from the PSD 40 through a local client printer module. When a request of the payment certificate from the PSD 40 is initiated in the station, the local client printer module functions as an independent meter. The request of the postage payment certificate to be printed is initiated, and a remote request of the postage payment certificate from a remote place is received. The local client printer module sends each request to the PSD 40 and receives the payment certificate from the PSD 40. It sends the postage payment certificate in accordance with the remote request and prints the postage payment certificate in accordance with the local request. |
