<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the character recognition rate by detecting the rotational motion of a pen tip together with its translation by simple constitution. SOLUTION: When a character is inputted by bringing a pen 2 into contact with a writing surface, acceleration signals detected by acceleration sensors 3X, 3Y provided at the tip part of the pen 2 and acceleration sensors 4X, 4Y provided at the rear part of the pen 2 are sent to a signal processing part 10. The processing part 10 calculates the difference of acceleration signals detected by the sensors 3X, 4X and the difference of acceleration signals detected by the sensors 3Y, 4Y, extracts features from the calculated difference signals and the acceleration signals detected by the sensors 3X, 3Y, 4X, 4Y, converts the features into a feature variable pattern, and compares the converted feature variable pattern with that of a handwritten character which is previously stored in a pattern storing part 14 to recognize the inputted character.</p> |
