<p>A settling basin for biologically purifying water has a dense limiting layer for containing the water to be purified and the required organic and inorganic materials, as well as appropriate vegetation. A supply of water to be clarified opens into a shaft (6) that extends downwards from the bottom of the basin (2). A purified water outflow (7) is provided. In order to increase the purifying effect of this settling basin in an advantageous manner, the pond (2) has a length (L) that is longer than its dimension in a transverse direction to its length. The shaft (6) is arranged at one end of the basin and the outflow (7) is arranged at the other end of the basin, so that the distance (D) between the centre of the shaft (6) and the outflow (7) substantially corresponds to the length (L) of the pond (2).</p> |
