PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery having excellent strength and liquid-holding property, capable of contributing to the improvement of a battery capacity without reducing a battery service life, by forming the separator with a porous sheet of non-woven fabric or the like, including fibers having a syndiotactic poly (1,2-butadiene) structure in the molecular structure with at least a part of the unsaturated linkages introduced with ion exchanging groups. SOLUTION: A resin component which has a syndiotactic poly (1,2-butadiene) structure in the molecular structure, and which is composed by introducing ion exchanging groups into at least a part of the unsaturated linkages, is confounded, among fibers, with fiber webs including synthetic fibers (A) which occupy at least a part of fiber surfaces, by high-pressure water-jet treating to form non-woven fabric, followed by a sulfonation treating thereto in comparatively mild conditions. |
