The distributor (13) has forks (24) or similar, which occupy a mainly horizontal position over a mainly vertical distance between the waiting position and the take-up position for the sheets. The forks are joint to a parallel linkage (25,26), and are supported via linear guides. The distributor is moved into a mainly horizontal position above the sheet flow, it is lowered in a linear movement when the sheet bundles have reached a set size while maintaining its horizontal position, into the sheet flow, so that the sheets can be stacked on the distributor, and the stacked sheets are moved to an unoccupied bundling table by moving the distributor into a drawing-in position.
