The vehicle seat has a seat carrier part (5) on which a backrest (2) and a seat element (4), forming the seat surface, are mounted. The seat carrier part is in the form of a lightweight molded component, e.g. a magnesium pressure casting. It has resting elements (10, 11, 14) which permit the seat to be adjusted longitudinally and in height. The frame sets the shapes of the seat element and the backrest.
