摘要 The present invention pertains to the field of medicine and relates to methods and devices for attaching the human body or a portion thereof in a given position, for example in order to carry out a radiation therapy on malignant tumours. The purpose of this invention is to eliminate any physiological movement at the patient's articulations during exposure to radiation. This invention essentially relates to an armchair for attaching a patient in order to carry out a rotary radiation therapy using a horizontal therapeutic beam of protons. This armchair includes a seat (7), a footrest (1), a plurality of back members (2, 3, 4), a headrest (5) and armrests (6), a vertical stand (8) supporting the plurality of back members (2, 3, 4), a shoulder fixation unit (10) as well as a device for stretching the spine (9). This invention also relates to a method for attaching the patient in a sitting position in the armchair, wherein said method involves immobilising and firmly attaching the main articulations or groups of articulations in the following predetermined order: the leg and foot articulations, the knee articulations, the coxofemoral articulations, the intervertebral articulations, the head/neck junction, the wrist articulations, the elbow articulations and the shoulder articulations. Each articulation is immobilised by compressing the surface and/or by stretching the tissues thereof, which is achieved by the forced displacement of portions of the body which are close to said articulations.
