Optical module for optical transceiver

The module has a slot (6) on the front of the housing (3) for optical coupling of an optical waveguide to an electro-optic converter (8). The converter is connected to electronic circuitry (19) in the housing which is shielded by screening (20) which has an earth connector (24) accessed external to the module and isolated from the circuitry. The earth connector is a tab (24) formed as a contact spring and an integral part of the screening. It penetrates the housing so it is contacted from the outside to form the earth connector (E). The tabs are located at all sides of the housing (3a-d). The screening is a metal screen sheet with through slots (26).
