A fastening system comprises a fastening screw (3) with a plastic sheathed head region, in which a thread is cut on screwing into a pre-fitting thread (5). A fastening system, for fastening an assembled unit to a component, has a fastening screw which is received in a pre-fitting thread in the assembled unit after pre-assembly and in a fastening thread in the assembled unit or the component for fastening the assembled unit to the component, the fastening screw having a free end thread region and a head end thread region. The novelty is that the screw head end region has a plastic sheath which, on screwing the fastening screw (3) into the pre-fitting thread (5), is cut with a thread corresponding to the pre-fitting thread (5).
