Active armor plating for protection against hollow charges, which consists of a laminated plate with an internal layer of gas-generating composition, has a layer of inert material (I), free from explosive material, between 2 steel plates. (I) is selected from specified esters. The impact pressure of a hollow charge spike causes rapid decomposition of (I) into gaseous decomposition products at a rate that can be modified by catalysts present in homogeneous phase. Active armor plating for protection against hollow charges, which consists of a laminated plate with an internal layer of gas-generating composition, has a layer of inert material (I), free from explosive material, between 2 steel plates. (I) is selected from monomeric or polymeric esters of carbonic, oxalic, formic, orthoformic, citric, maleic, malonic and (meth)acrylic acid with (m)ethanol, ethylene glycol, propandiol and glycerol and internal esters of hydroxyacetic acid and hydroxypropionic acid, preferably ethylene carbonate and (poly)vinylene carbonate. The impact pressure of a hollow charge spike causes rapid decomposition of (I) into gaseous decomposition products at a rate that can be modified by catalysts present in homogeneous phase. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the active armor plating.
