The cover (1) has to accommodate a load acting on it. It consists of two plates (2,3), which are maintained at relative distance and connected via knobs (4). The knobs increase stiffness and rigidity of the cover. The space between the plates may also contain an intermediate layer (6) of pref. multi-layered paper or a plastic membrane, to increase stiffness. The layer is resin-impregnated. It provides protection against dampness, corrosion, and/or mold, and against noise. The cover is connected to the vehicle body by MIG soldering.
