<p>An induction broiler (10) which includes a non-metallic support plate (20) and a hot grate (11) for broiling food thereon. The grate (11) includes a plurality of spaced apart elongated metallic bars (12). Each elongated metallic bar (12) has a base portion (16) disposed above and adjacent to the non-metallic support plate (20) and a food heating surface (15) opposite the base surface (17). The induction broiler (10) further includes at least one induction heating coil (22) connected to a power supply (30) and mounted below and adjacent to the non-metallic support plate (20). During operation, the induction heating coils (22) generate an alternating magnetic field which is coupled into the grate (11) across the support plate (20). As a result, current flow is induced through the elongated bars (12) which, in turn, results in the heating of the food heating surface (15) of each elongated bar (12).</p> |
