Stacks (S1,S2,S3) of piezoelectric discs are distributed symmetrically so that the piezoelectric passive regions (5) are arranged in the centre of the system. The piezoelectric stacks are held by a common rigid baseplate (8) and cover plate, the plates being connected by an elastic tensioning device to provide pre-tensioning.
