Generation of a calibration curve for an infra-red gas analyzer

An infra-red analyzer is fed with a series, of at least four, different gaseous compositions, comprising an inert diluent gas plus varying amounts of the calibration gas, the analyzer signals monitored and by the 'method of least squares' fitted to provide a calibration curve representing a fourth order polynomial equation. After obtaining the approximation of the squares a correction weighting is applied using the reciprocal for each of the obtained data points.
