The buffer store (2) is heated by alternative, especially solar, energy. The heating boiler (3) is fired by fossil fuels. The return flow of a heat-consumer (4) is induced by means of a temperature-dependent controllable flow element only when there is adequate heat potential in the buffer store. The return flow is conducted through the store and, in the other case directly through the heating boiler. The flow element in front of the buffer store is in the form of a three-way valve (11) from a 4 K higher temperature in the buffer store than in the return flow (10) of the heat consumer. A top temperature sensor (13) together with the temperature sensor (9) below this value switches on the three-way valve directly towards the heating boiler.
