PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a thermal transfer sheet of good storage stability, printing quality and resistance. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet 1 is manufactured by forming a heat fusion ink layer 3 containing at least a coloring agent and an ethylene acrylic acid copolymer of molecular weight in the range of 1000-30000 at least on one face of a base 2 and having the content of the ethylene acrylic acid copolymer in the range of 2-90 wt.%. The coloring agent is dispersed uniformly in the heat fusion ink layer by the ethylene acrylic acid copolymer contained in the heat fusion ink layer 3.
