System for interconnection between a computer and an automatic private telephone exchange. The purpose of the system is to monitor telephone charges, hotel services, etc., as well as to enter data from the computer to vary the configuration of the telephone exchange, the subscriber category, etc., without the computer being exclusively dedicated to these tasks. The system includes a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter 1 that is connected to the computer by means of a connector 8 to convert parallel data from the computer to serial data for the exchange and vice versa. The universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter 1 is connected to a switch 6 that is in turn connected to a telephone converter circuit 4 and a serial interface 5 to permit bidirectional communication, one of these two being selected depending on the type of telephone exchange to be connected. There is also a non-volatile RAM memory unit 2 and a clock circuit 3 connected to the computer bus by means of connector 9; this is to provide the date and time at which each operation is performed and to store these operations, so that data is not lost even if there is a power failure. <IMAGE>
