PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recycling a record-receiving material for ink jet recording to be repeatedly reusable by easily removing an image formed on the material by an ink jet recording method, and simultaneously providing good characteristics of the formed image and particularly fast ink absorbing speed and rapid recording, a cleanser used for the method and the material to be recorded. SOLUTION: The method for recycling a record-receiving material for ink jet recording comprises the steps of forming an image on the material by an ink jet recording method by using an ink containing only a dye substantially not dyed at the material as a coloring material, and cleaning the image by a liquid containing water as a main body when the image on the material becomes unnecessary to remove it. the cleanser for cleaning to remove the image contains 50 wt.% or more of water, and has a pH value of 7.0 or more. A surface of the material is constituted by a material containing a white pigment and a binder as main bodies in such a manner that a ratio of the pigment to the binder is a range of 0.5/1 to 4/1.
