PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite type thrust bearing device to suppress the generation of air bubbles in a bearing oil tank and have stable bearing performance. SOLUTION: This bearing device comprises a main shaft 1 arranged through a bearing oil tank 6((a plurality of stationary plates 3 disposed at the periphery of the main shaft 1 and supporting a vertical load, and a plurality of guide bearings 4 disposed at the periphery of the main shaft 1 and supporting a horizontal load. An oil level in the bearing oil tank 6 is set to a level high enough to allow immersion of a part of the guide bearing 4. In a so formed bearing device, a shield plate 10 protruding from the guide bearing 4 to the spot situated upstream of the rotation direction of the main shaft 1 is mounted on the side of the guide bearing 4 corresponding to a spot located upstream of the rotation direction of the main shaft 1. |
