PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction-stirring joining method for extruded shapes butt joint by which the full penetration type butt joint whose joined part leads from the upper surface to the lower surface even if the plate thickness is varied, is stably obtd. and the joint having excellent quality at the joined part without causing any defect at the upper part of the joined part caused by unapt pushing- down depth of the shoulder part of a probe to the upper parts of the works to be joined can be formed at high joining speed. SOLUTION: This friction stirring joining method is executed so that the tip part of a stirring pin 3 of the probe 1 pushed down to the butting parts 6 of one pair of plate-like extruded shapes 4, 5 faces the position (-Ple =0.05-0.25 mm) at the upper part of the back surfaces 4ls , 5ls of the plate-like extruded shapes and further, the pushing-down depth hs (mm) of the shoulder part 22 of the probe 1 from the upper surfaces 4us , 5us of the plate-like extruded shapes is appropriately set according to the joining speed (mm/one turn of the probe). |
