PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deposit of solid components in a drainage treatment apparatus by detecting the thickness or inside diameter of a deposit layer formed on the inner surface of a drum screen by the centrifugal dewatering of crushed garbage or a solid/ liquid ring layer in which excess sludge from an introduction route forms on the inner circumferential surface of the deposit layer. SOLUTION: Garbage is crushed by a disposer 1 and introduced with drainage into the drum screen 4 of a dewatering drier 2, the drum screen 4 is rotated to dewater the crushed garbage centrifugally, and a deposit layer is formed on its inner surface. When the deposit layer has a specified thickness or inside diameter, the introduction of the crushed garbage is stopped by the first flow rate adjusting means 12a on the basis of a detection signal from a layer dimension detecting means 30. After that, excess sludge 21a from a drainage treatment apparatus 3 is introduced into the drum screen 4 by the second flow rate adjusting means 12b and dewatered centrifugally. When a solid/liquid ring layer formed on the inner circumferential surface of the deposit layer has a specified thickness or inside diameter, the introduction of the excess sludge 21a is stopped or reduced.
