<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely change over the characteristic of an intake system while miniaturizing a variable intake system. SOLUTION: The inside of a collector is divided into a first volumetric chamber 15 and a pair of second volumetric chambers 16, 17 by pair of valve units 13, 14. One end of the first volumetric chamber 15 is provided with an intake inlet 18, and the bottom surface of each second volumetric chamber 16 or 17 is provided with intake branch openings 21. Resonance passages 22, 23 are formed along the outsides of a pair of prismatic parts 19, 20, respectively. Each of the resonance passages 22, 23 is formed in a curved shape projected toward the outside of the collector, and the one end of the first volumetric chamber is communicated with the respective one ends of the second volumetric chambers 16, 17. In a low speed region, the valve units 13, 14 are closed, so that the induction system of each bank is separated long in distance, while in a high speed region, the valve units 13, 14 are open, so that the length of pipe is shortened, and the volume of each volumetric chamber is increased.</p> |
