The known center mechanism for a vulcanizing machine of the type that a bladder is stretched upon loading and unloading a tire, is improved in order to perform vulcanization of tire at a high precision and to resolve the problems in the prior art relating to a bladder life, a cycle time and a depth of a pit for installing a vulcanizing machine. The improved center mechanism comprises a mushroom-shaped bladder (B), a clamp ring (10) for clamping a lower opening edge of the bladder, a post cylinder (17) for extending and contracting a height of the bladder, a movable stopper (27) for receiving a depressing force against the clamp ring which is generated by heating medium introduced into the bladder upon vulcanizing a tire, and a bladder elevator cylinder (20) for elevating and lowering the clamp ring (10) upon loading and unloading a tire.
