PRODUCTION OF TEA LEAF TANNINS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing low-caffeine tea leaf tannins substantially freed from caffeine. SOLUTION: This method for producing low-caffeine tea leaf tannins comprises the following procedure: a tea extract solution is subjected to contact treatment with a cation exchange resin, the resulting solution is subsequently subjected to contact treatment with a porous polymer resin, and the aimed tea leaf tannins adsorbed to the polymer resin is then eluted with ethanol. The caffeine content of the tea leaf tannins thus obtained is <=0.05 wt.% on a solid basis.
