The protecting ring for tree roots comprises a base frame symmetrical in relation to the vertical axis and resting on a supporting surface (8). At the top it has a mounting (10) for the cover (2, 3), which forms the usable surface area (6) for the trunk (5) to pass through. The supporting surface forms a frame round the usable area, both being centred on the vertical axis. The frame can be enclosed by the mounting, and sloping downwards and outwards to the supporting surface. ADVANTAGE - Occupies minimum surface area while leaving maximum space for roots.
