PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent clogging in a recording head of an ink jet printer. SOLUTION: This ink jet printer comprises a recording head, a pressure reducing means for an ink passage and a cleaning liquid supplying means. In a recording head 1, a recording head seal section 2 of a pressure reducing means to be brought into intimate contact to an ink ejection nozzle 5 of the recording head 1 is connected to a vacuum valve and a pressure reducing chamber 17 through a pressure reducing line 14 so as to reduce a pressure in each passage from the ink ejection nozzle 5 to the recording head 1. The recording head seal section 2 which is positioned to be opposed to the ink ejection face of the recording head 1, comprises a suction hole and an introducing hole for ink and a cleaning liquid positioned at a portion the same as the ink ejection nozzle 5 and can be brought into intimate contact with the recording head 1 with a rubber packing therebetween such that the pressure in the passage can be reduced. In the cleaning liquid supplying means, a cleaning liquid tank 16 and a cleaning valve 11 are connected with a cleaning liquid supplying line 13 and the cleaning liquid supplying line 13 is connected to an ink supplying line 12 provided between an ink tank 15 and the recording head 1. |
