摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active carbon catalyst which reveals a high catalytic activity through effectively making pores of a desired size range water-repellent. SOLUTION: This active carbon catalyst adsorbs sulfur oxide through coming into contact with an exhaust gas containing the sulfur oxide and oxidizes the sulfur oxide to sulfuric acid and further recovers and removes the sulfuric acid. In addition, the active carbon catalyst contains an active carbon powder and a fluororesin and is obtained by applying a shearing force to and kneading the active carbon powder and the fluororesin and further molding the kneaded product into a specified shape. The active carbon powder is preferably of 12-600 μm average particle dia. The content of the fluororesin is preferably about 0.5-25 wt.% to the active carbon powder. Further, fluororesin particles or a fluororesin particle dispersion are added to the active carbon powder and these are mixed. This mixture is kneaded and molded into the best suitable active carbon catalyst.
