PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform laser beam scanning with high rotational accuracy while suppressing rotational jitter significantly. SOLUTION: The imaging system comprises means for forming an image by scanning on a photosensitive body with a laser beam modulated by an image signal, means for driving a rotary polygon mirror at the time of laser beam scanning, and means for controlling the drive means to settle the rotational speed of the rotary polygon mirror within a specified range. The control means comprises a plurality of phase comparators 10-15, a section 3 for generating a plurality of reference clocks, and a horizontal sync signal generating means disposed on the scanning line of a beam from the rotary polygon mirror and controls the rotational speed of the rotary polygon mirror by comparing a clock signal generated based on a horizontal sync signal from the horizontal sync signal generating means with the plurality of reference clocks through the plurality of phase comparators 10-15. |
