PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymerization catalyst capable of producing a highly stereoregular poly-α-olefin with good flowability. SOLUTION: This polymerization catalyst is composed of (A) a solid component essentially comprising magnesium, titanium, a halogen and an electron donating compound, (B) an organoaluminum compound of formula I: (R<k> )r Al(Y)3-r (R<k> is an alkyl group or the like; Y is an alkoxy group or the like; (r) is any number satisfying the relationship: 0<=r<=3) or such an organoaluminum compound that two or more aluminum atoms are bound to each other via an oxygen or nitrogen atom, (C) an alkylalkoxysilane compound, (D) a compound of formula II: MetRx (Met is Mg, Al, Ga, Ge, In, Sn, Sb or a transition metal element; R is a halogen atom or hydrocarbon-contg. group, at least one of them being a halogen atom; (x) is the valence of Met), and (E) a zinc compound of the formula ZnR2 (R is an alkyl group).
