Production of a fuel cell with plasma processing

The invention relates to a method for producing a PEM fuel cell, whereby an electrolyte membrane undergoes plasma processing and electrodes are placed on both sides of said membrane. Preferably, the plasma is produced from gases containing silicon or carbon. Plasma processing results in enhanced performance characteristics for said fuel cell. Fuel cells produced according to the inventive method can be used for internal reforming purposes.
