Method for preparing (F-18)-fluoride ion

A process for producing ÄF-18Ü-fluoride ion suitable for the production of radiofluorinated organic compounds comprises: (i) bringing ÄO-18Ü-enriched water containing ÄF-18Ü-fluorine ion into contact with a stronger acidic cation exchange resin to remove impurity cations, (ii) bringing the water thus treated into contact with a weakly basic anion exchange resin, and (iii) eluting and collecting the ÄF-18Ü-fluoride ion which has adsorbed onto the weakly basic anion exchange resin. The ÄO-18Ü enriched water which is recovered in step (ii) can be recycled, without prior purification, for use in step (i) of the process.
