PURPOSE:To judge the state of sleeping of a sleeping person accurately. CONSTITUTION:A sleeping state estimating means 7 is provided to estimate the state of sleeping based on an output of a physical motion detection means for detecting physical motions of a human body. The sleeping state estimating means has a model of neural networks 8 having a plurality of coupling weight coefficients of a neural network inside as fixed to estimate the sleeping state acquired by a method simulating a hierarchical neural network in which a number of layers made up of a plurality of nerve elements are combined. This enables the judgment of the sleeping state accurately regardless of changes between persons and changes in a person.
