PURPOSE:To provide an exhaust gas purifier capable of completely burning the unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides exhausted from the automobile engine, etc., into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water, and having an exhaust gas purifying catalytic body capable of being heated rapidly the start of the engine. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a ceramic honeycomb catalyst carrier coated with a high-frequency power absorbing material, and a purification catalyst of noble metals, etc., is deposited on the surface to constitute an exhaust gas purifying catalytic body. A high-frequency power is supplied to the catalytic body 9 to heat the high-frequency power absorbing material itself on the carrier surface, hence the purification catalyst on the surface is rapidly heated to a temp. where the catalystic body 9 functions, and a stirrer fan 10 is provided to uniformly heat the catalytic body 9. |
