<p>A loop fastener (13) for attaching tags to articles of commerce. The loop fastener (13) comprises a flexible filament (15) having a first end and second ends (17, 19), a socket (21), having top, bottom, and side surfaces (23, 25 and 27), the side surface (27) being generally octagonal in shape and having a front end. Socket (21) includes a channel (29) and a circumferential flange (31), channel (29) being generally circular in transverse cross section and extending from the top surface (23) to the bottom surface (25), flange (31) extending partially into the channel (29) and being shaped to include an arcuate surface (32-1) extending convexly downwardly from the top surface (23). The first end (17) of the flexible filament (15) is joined both to the top surface (23) and the front end of the socket (21). The loop fastener (13) further comprises an inserting element (41) including a plug (43) disposed at the second end (19) of the flexible filament (15), plug (43) insertable into the channel (29) and past flange (31), so as to keep plug (43) from being easily withdrawn back past the flange (31).</p> |
