An ink jet printer for sending recording droplets flying from a recording head and recording images onto a conveyed recording material at a position facing the recording head, characterized in that the recording material is cloth or a sewn product made of cloth, and a flat printing face forming means for flattening the printing (recording) face of the cloth and a carrier for conveying the recording material are provided. The ink jet printer may be further provided with a jig for holding down the opposite edges (trimmings) of cloth in the case of the cloth or a means for minimizing the distance between the printing face and the recording head by allowing the printing face of a sewn product to float above the seam or folded portion of the sewn product in the case of the sewn product, thereby permitting a high-accuracy and clear printing on the cloth and the sewn product. |
