A polypeptide of up to 50 amino acids in length is described which is suitab le for use as a vaccine against a streptococcal infection. The polypeptide comprises (a) the amino acids 150-168 of protein H of S. pyogenes having the sequence QKQQQLETEKQISEASRKS; (b) an amino acid sequence for an outer membra ne protein of a streptococcal strain corresponding to sequence (a); (c) a fragment of sequence (a) or (b) of six or more amino acids; or (d) a sequenc e comprising a sequence (a), (b) or (c) modified by deletion, insertion, substitution or rearrangement.
