<p>The present invention relates to skin care compounds and skin care compositions comprising such compounds. In particular, these compounds and compositions comprising such compounds are useful for improving the appearance of dry mammalian skin. These skin care compounds are phenolic hydrophobic, metal ion chelators of defined chemical structure, which have the unique properties of (i) being hydrophobic and (ii) having the ability to bind metal ions. These chelators can optionally be formulated in a dermatologically acceptable carrier. The present invention also encompasses methods of improving the appearance of dry mammalian skin and methods of desquamating mammalian skin by treating dry mammalian skin with the herein-described skin care compounds and/or skin care compositions containing these compounds.</p> |
