The mechanism includes a slide (11) and a grip (10) for the position locking of a pluggable contact module (7), such as a safety unit, connection plug, connecting cord. The contact module can be locked positively with a carrier tray in each of both grips using the slide. Preferably, the slide can be placed on the grip using a snap-on hook (14). The slide can be positioned non-positively in two positions using snap-on naps (16). The slide uses a locking hook (18) which engages in a locking section (20) of the carrier tray for providing a positive connection to a distribution unit (1) of a communication system.
