Cylindrical photoconductor supports are designed using a mathematical relationship between the resin support material melt index, the mold filling length values and a quality control factor. A process for designing cylindrical resin supports for photoconductors comprises measuring the melt indices (f) of resin materials for the supports. Resin material filling experiments are carried out with various molds to determine the melt indices (f) for variations of the respective filling lengths (LF), mold diameter (D) and thickness (t) values. An average value (A0) is calculated for the expression D<2>LF/ft by using the results from the individual experiments. The diameter (D), the thickness (t) and the length (L) of a support are determined from the relationship L = /=/=a asterisk A0 asterisk f asterisk t/D2, where /=a is a quality control factor equal to 0.5 to 1.
