The present invention relates to an engine internal mechanism which is arranged in a compact manner in a cylindrical body (10) closed by end covers, and which consists of a rotor. The rotor comprises a shaft (30) with recesses (31) for receiving roller-type pistons (thereafter referred to as rollers (40)) that run along the body. The body (10) includes a plurality of longitudinal partitions (11) that rest upon the shaft, wherein during operation, the channels (41) of the rollers coincide precisely with the partitions (11). The rollers (40) are capable of running along the body without any friction since their end gears mesh with the inner dented wheel of one of the end covers. The annular working space, which is defined by the body, the shaft and the discs thereof, is divided by the partitions and the rollers into a plurality of variable chambers into which the air-fuel mixture is fed before being pressurised, burnt and discharged. During the combustion, the expanding gases apply a pressure on the roller and rotate the shaft. Some partitions are provided with an inlet device on one side and with a discharge device on the other. The channel depth in each roller is automatically adjusted from 0 (when the channel is in the shaft) to a maximum (when the channel runs on the partition) using a sliding member (50), a lever (60) and a push rod controlled by a groove with cams in the disc.
