PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize perfect dispersion or the like of a sum of group delay time differences of double side band waves to a main carrier in an optical DSB signal generated due to the color dispersion of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: In the system for transmitting a subcarrier of angular frequency ωm modulated by information to be transmitted through an optical fiber, an optical double side band(DSB) signal obtained by modulating the intensity of a light wave 1 of frequency ω0 to be a main carrier by a subcarrier signal 6 is transmitted through a single mode optical fiber 4, a sum of group delay time differences of double side band waves to the main carrier in the optical DSB signal which is generated due to the color dispersion of the optical fiber in optical fiber transmission is equalized by a dispersion equalizer 3 and the optical DSB signal is squared and detected by using a light receiving element 5 on a receiving end to reproduce the original subcarrier signal. |
