<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the action of electromagnetic waves to a human head when an external antenna is used and also to improve operability by projecting the external antenna downward from a body case. SOLUTION: A radio equipment body is internally included in a body case 12, a receiver 4 and a transmitter 5 are vertically provided at upper and lower parts respectively at a fixed interval. Also, an external antenna 3 is constituted of a rod a conventional antenna of 1/2 wavelength and is attached in a projectable and contractible way between a storage position where it is accommodated in a body case 13 and a use position where it is projected downward from the case 13. In this portable telephone set 1, although the antenna 3 is accommodated in a left part of the case 13 and it is separated as far as possible from a human body on condition that the set 1 is carried by the right hand and a call is performed. However, the antenna 3 is accommodated in a right part of the case 13 on condition that the set 1 is carried by the left hand.</p> |
