PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen an observation enable area in the case of providing a two-dimensional (2D) image on a 3D image display device for providing the 3D image by respectively converging spatially modulated light source beams corresponding to left and right eyes near the positions the eyes of an observer. SOLUTION: A light source shutter means 12 of a light source means 14 faces a light emitting body 11, corresponding to the respective left and right eyes of the observer and can arbitrarily set the number, sizes and positions of areas. An optical element means 15 respectively converges beams from light emitting areas 13L and 13R to the left and right eyes of the observer. A spatial modulating element means 16 spatially modulates the respective beams emitted from the said light emitting areas. In order to provide a 2D image, by moving the position of the light source means 14 through a light source control means 17, the spatially modulated beams emitted from the said image display screen are turned into scattered beams. |
