摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the decline of a contrast ratio and after images due to the alignment disturbance of liquid crystal by forming an insulation film thick in an area corresponding to a light shielding film and thin in the area corresponding to an open hole part so as to cover a thin film nonlinear element and a scanning line. SOLUTION: The film thickness of a passivation film 109 is thin in the area through which light made incident from the open hole part 116 is passed and it is formed to be relatively thick in the other area where the signal line 108 and a TFT part 123 are present. By this constitution, since the film thickness of the passivation film 109 is thin at the part through which the light made incident from the open hole part 116 is passed, the amplitude of signals applied from a picture element electrode 107 to the liquid crystal 111 is enlarged. Further, since the film thickness of the other part is thick, the thin film nonlinear element is physically protected and the degradation of the liquid crystal 111 or a leakage current between the signal line 108 and the picture element electrode 107 is prevented and crosstalk, vertical irregularity, the decline of the contrast ratio and the after images are effectively prevented.</p>
