In a motor control system and method controlled by a d-axis current command value ids and a q-axis current command value iqs, a d-axis voltage command value Vd* and a q-axis voltage command value vq* are computed on the basis of d-axis current deviation DELTA id of d-axis current value id from the d-axis current command value ids and q-axis current deviation DELTA iq of q-axis current value iq from the q-axis current command value iqs and on the basis of q-axis inductance value Lq and d-axis inductance value Ld wherein the inductance values Lq and Ld are tuned or adjusted so that the d-axis current deviation DELTA id and q-axis current deviation DELTA iq approach zero.
