PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject material not only excellent in transparency but also having excellent antimicrobial properties, utilizing a component excellent in copolymerizability and useful for a high-moisture content lens, or the like, by using a specific polymer. SOLUTION: This material comprises a polymer obtained by polymerizing a polymerization component containing (A) a compound represented by formula I (R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> is a 1-8C alkylene; R<3> is a 1-18C alkyl; X<1> is a halogen) and/or (B) a compound represented by formula II (R<4> is H or methyl; R<5> is a 1-8C alkylene; R<6> is a 1-18C alkyl; X<2> is a halogen). The amount of the components A and/or B is preferably 0.1-30 wt.% based on the polymerization component and a monomer containing an unsaturated double bond copolymerizable with the components A and/or B is preferably contained. |
